Overview

The Panchayati Raj Division of NITI Aayog provides overall policy guidance to the Ministry of Rural development & Ministry of Panchayati Raj and plays a pivotal role in the formulation of policy documents, strategic frameworks, and governance reforms. In alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the Division is committed to fostering inclusive, participatory planning, ensuring last-mile delivery, and enabling localised development outcomes through empowered Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).

Core Functions
  • Examining schemes, Cabinet Notes, SFC/ EFC notes and participating in the Committee meetings of these Departments.
  • Examining performance of schemes of these Ministries/ Departments in coordination with DMEO.
  • Engaging with the Ministry of Rural Development & Ministry of Panchayati Raj , State Governments, civil Society Organisations  as well as PRIs on various issues, policies and schemes.
  • Developing strategy papers on various thematic areas of PRIs development inter alia, include Rural Development, Women participation, capacity building and solid waste management and so on.
  • Conducting research with various organisations and development partners and holding discussions with eminent experts in the domains of PRIs.
  • Organising Seminars, Workshops and Stakeholder Consultations on various themes relating to Panchayati Raj.
